MAJOR SETBACK FOR MEGA, CAPTAIN PLAVŠIĆ SUFFERS FACIAL BONE FRACTURES
The basketball players of Mega MIS secured a victory in Ljubljana against Cedevita Olimpija with a score of 71:85, securing a 2-0 series triumph and advancement to the semifinals of the ABA League playoffs. However, the team suffered a major setback due to an injury sustained by Mega’s captain, Uroš Plavšić.
Following a collision with an opposing player early in the second quarter, Plavšić suffered fractures to his facial bones in four places, as indicated by initial examinations conducted immediately upon the team’s return to Belgrade. Additional assessments will determine whether surgery is necessary within the next two days.
Despite enduring intense pain and constantly applying ice to his face while on the bench, Mega’s captain insisted on finishing the game, in which his team ultimately secured a significant victory. Plavšić contributed 6 points and 8 rebounds during the 23 minutes he spent on the court.
This marks the third major setback for the Mega team. In the first quarterfinal match in Belgrade, Omercan Ilyasoglu suffered an ankle sprain, which prevented him from traveling to Ljubljana, while Lovro Gnjidić sustained a hand fracture in the game against Cibona.
