BARAĆ: “WE NEED MORE TEAM CHEMISTRY TO TURN THESE LOSSES INTO WINS”

The basketball players of Mega MIS weren’t fortunate in yet another suspenseful finish, as they suffered a defeat against Borac Mozzart with a score of 89:90 in the second round of the ABA League, played at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall. A fierce battle ensued, and Mega had two opportunities in the final seconds to gain an advantage and secure a victory, but once again, luck wasn’t on their side.

Mega MIS Coach Marko Barać shared his impressions after the match:

“It was a very interesting game to watch, but it wasn’t positive for us. I’d like to congratulate Borac on their victory; they had the strength to come back several times from a significant deficit, and in the end, they showed more determination to win this game. We had a double-digit lead several times, but it was easily squandered. We know the type of basketball we want to play, but conceding 52 points in the first half is certainly not good. We continued to play somewhat better in the third quarter and once again gained a double-digit lead through the style of play we want to emphasize, in transition. However, in that transition, we had some instances of poor decision-making, and instead of attacking the basket, we took shots, thus giving Borac a chance to counter. A lapse in concentration that simply shouldn’t be expected from certain players occurred, but it seems like all of this needs to happen to us so that we can learn how not to repeat it in the future. We will continue to work in the way we have been so far and strive to improve,” said Barać.

When asked by a reporter what is needed for Mega to secure a victory after two suspenseful finishes, he responded:

“To secure a victory today, it would have been necessary for there not to be a suspenseful finish at all. I repeat, we had a 10-point lead and a fast break; the next time, we had a seven-point lead and fantastic defense, and in both situations, we inexplicably lost possession and allowed Borac to come back. We decided to defend that last attack and it proved to be sensible; we had 8-9 seconds for an attack in an open court. Here, a dose of experience is needed to, instead of a long two-pointer, attack the basket on home ground and go all the way. It seems like this is something that is necessary, these suspenseful finishes and these two losses, so that we can grow up as soon as possible. We need more team chemistry and both individual and collective progress to turn these losses into wins,” concluded the coach of Mega MIS.

In the third round of the ABA League, the Mega basketball players will face an away match against FMP in Železnik, scheduled for Monday, October 16th, at 20:00.
