MEGA MISS LOST TO BORAC IN ČACK BUT KEPT THE HEAD-TO-HEAD ADVANTAGE IN THE SUPER LEAGUE OF SERBIA
In the postponed match of the first round of the Serbian Super League, the Mega MIS basketball players lost in Čačak to Borac Mozzart 87:82 (23:21, 17:26, 24:16, 23:19). After an even fight in the first period, Marko Barać’s team gained a significant advantage in the second. It seemed to have established control, but a strong response from the home team followed after returning from the big break. There was a big battle in the third quarter, the teams took turns in the lead, and Borac met the last break with a point in excess. However, in the middle of the decisive period, the home team broke away, gained a double-digit lead, and eventually won.
After the first defeat, Mega MIS remains in first place in Group B with a 3-1 score, which Borac also achieved, but Barać’s team kept the advantage in the head-to-head matches, as they won the first meeting with a team from Čačak 92:78. Vojvodina is third with 2-2 and Metalac last with 0-4.
Luka Cerovina was the top scorer in the defeat against Borac, with 20 points, while Danko Branković was the most useful with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds for a PIR of 23. Aleksa Uskoković also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 assists, while Matej Rudan scored 15 and Petar Kovačević scored 11.
Uroš Čarapić led the home team with 30 points, Sava Lešić added 16, while Aleksa Novaković with 14 and Nikola Kocović with 12 points were also in double figures.
Borac opened the match a bit better, but Mega soon answered. The teams changed in the lead until the end of the first period, so that the host met the first break with two points in surplus (23:21). Kovačević played excellently in the continuation, so Mega reached the turnaround, and after the free throws at the end of the half, reached a seven-point lead (40:47).
However, Dejan Mijatović’s team opened the third quarter with a 13:0 run and took control only briefly. Mega basketball players reacted and regained the advantage in the middle of the quarter. There was a great fight until the last break when the team from Čačak entered with a 64:63 lead. Soon, they broke away in the decisive quarter, gained nine extra points, and took a double-digit advantage. Mega tried to respond through Uskoković and Rudan, but Borac remained in front and registered the victory.
The next match for Mega MIS basketball players is scheduled for Thursday, May 25, from 17:00 in the Mega Factory hall, and the opponent is Vojvodina.
