BARAĆ: “GREAT WIN, THE PLAYERS WERE SMARTLY LOOKING FOR WHAT TO ATTACK”
The fifth victory of Mega MIS basketball players in the last six games within the ABA League. In the 19th round, they defeated the SC Derby team in the Morača hall in Podgorica 103:83 (21:19, 29:30, 28:16, 25:18). After a fairly even first half, Marko Barać’s team got away in the third quarter thanks to the great plays of Matej Rudan and Ahmaad Rorie. They gained a 13-point advantage before the decisive 10 minutes, and then very quickly took the lead with 19 points in the last period, so everything became clear in Montenegro. With that, Mega MIS team recorded their eight victroy in the regional competition, so with an 8-11 score, they continued their fight for a place in the playoffs. The SC Derby has only one more triumph (9-10).
Coach Marko Barać was very satisfied after the third straight victory on the side with over 100 points scored:
– First of all, I would like to congratulate my players. This is a really big win for us, against an outstanding team that has been losing points at home very hard for the past two years. We did a great job. At the opening of the game, offensively, it was quite good, but the host attacked us smartly with the inside game, where a large number of our players got into foul trouble very early on. After that, we managed to take a significant advantage twice, but the first time after a phenomenal play by Mcgee they managed to come back, the second time with our pure deconcentration, turnovers, not going back on defense. At halftime we had a minimal advantage, but I felt that the players were not happy. The atmosphere was like we were losing. There was no need for that, because in the second half we made a reaction despite a large number of offensive rebounds. It is certainly not easy to make that kind of reaction in such a game, with the counterattack running out in the second half. The players smartly searched for what to attack, the result was a large number of points away from home, against a high-quality and very well-led team,
said Barac.
The Mega MIS basketball players thus made a great intro to the Radivoje Korać Cup, which is on the program from February 15 to 18 in the Čair hall in Niš. Marko Barac’s team will meet Vojvodina in the quarter-finals, and the match is scheduled for Wednesday, the first day of the competition, from 9:00 pm.
