MEGA WITHOUT SOLUTION FOR MIHAILOVIC, MORNAR WON IN BELGRADE

Mega without a solution for new record holder Mihailovic!

Mega Mozzart were defeated in the 23rd round of the ABA League by Mornar-Barsko zlato with 70:83 (10:27, 23:13, 18:20, 19:23). In this match, Mega simply did not have a solution for the masterful guest point guard Vladimir Mihailovic, who went down in history with 46 points as the best scorer in one match, thus surpassing the record of Milan Gurovic who scored 45 points. With the numerous oscillations of the young Mea team, a weaker defensive jump and a significant number of missed free throws are added to that, the defeat in the duel with the experienced team from Bar could not be avoided.

The most efficient in the ranks of Mega was Nikola Jovic with 19 points, while Karlo Matkovic had 13. In Mornar, Vladimir Mihailovic provided an unreal game with 46 points.

After 23 rounds of regional competition, Mega has a score of 8-14 while Mornar has 8 wins and 13 losses. In the next round on March 31 at 6 pm, Mega Mozzart will play in Split.

Mega started the game with  Smith, Ruzhentsev, Jovic, Simanic, Matkovic, and after a couple of introductory minutes in which they gained a 7:3 advantage with a good game in the transition, an inexplicable drop followed. Mornar first took the lead in short time with the triples of Mihailovic and Jeremić, in order to gain a convincing advantage (7:25) with a furious run of 0:22. The players of coach Vladimir Jovanovic were not served by a shot at all, and in the first section they had big problems with the offensive jump of the basketball players from Bar.

At the end of the first quarter, Mornar had a surplus of 17 points, which seemed to wake up the home team, which came out on the floor with much more energy in the second section. Aggression in defense was at a much higher level, and much greater determination in attack was noticeable. Team from Bar was without a basket for five minutes, which Mega used for the 10:0 run, which, it seemed, could have been even more convincing. However, Mega managed to establish the balance of results and went to the big break with an acceptable seven points behind (33:40).

With an attractive dunk by Ruženci, the home team came to a five-point deficit, but with a series of errors in the attack and weak guarding under their basket, Mornar was again in double-digit plus in three minutes of the third period. The advantage went up to 17 points difference. However, Mega had the last rush at the end of the third and the beginning of the last section, when Nikola Jovic, with five tied points, enabled Mega to get back to seven points behind. However, Mihailovic continued to score whenever necessary, Mornar managed to keep the advantage and recorded a triumph.
