GLOGOVAC: “STRASBOURG IS A TOUGH OPPONENT BUT WE WILL LOOK UP FOR OUR CHANCE FOR WIN”
On Wednesday on 16th of November from 20:30 Mega Leks continues competition in the Basketball Champions League with the 5th round game against Strasbourg in France. After yet another in a series of uncertain finishes of the game (the ninth in 13 games this season), Mega won in Laktasi against Igokea so in a good mood travels to France.
In a match against Strasbourg coach Dejan Milojevic will not be able to count on Radosav Spasojevic and Ognjen Carapic, neither on Marko Tejic who has not recovered from injury. Shortened rotation under the basket will nevertheless be strengthed by Stefan Glogovac who, after several months break due to injuries sustained during the preparatory period, returned to the match with Igokea where he showed a very good game.
Coach of Mega Leks pointed out that the Mega’s form is in the rise but that team in France expects a tough match:
– We are expecting a very tough game. Strasbourg is one of the best team in our group, who has for many years played Euroleague. Our form is on the reise, we want to play the best we can and see where we are compared to the best European teams,
Milojevic said.
The main force in Strasbourg represents a pair of Americans guards Irving Walker (16.8 points per game) and experienced AJ Slaughter (11.8 points). At the center position is an extremely talented young Mam Jaiteh and under the basket are also experienced American Matt Howard and the Finnish national team member and former Chicago Bulls player Erik Murphy. On positions two and three are the experienced French players Paul Lacombe and Jeremy Leloup and somewhat younger Pape Sy. At point guard off the bench jumps exceptionally talented Frank Ntilikina who is predicted that in the next draft will be chosen among the top 10 picks. Last to the team comes reinforcements Romeo Travis who is in the region best known for his excellent play for Zadar three seasons ago.
Mega Leks in Group D of the Basketball Champions League has a 1-3 record while the Strasbourg recorded 2 wins and defeats. In the French national championship Strasbourg recorded 3 wins and 5 losses while the Mega in ABA league has 3-6. In the last game before continuation of the Champions League Mega defeated Igokea in Laktasi with 64:67 while Strasbourg was better away against Cholet with a 86:90.
Stefan Glogovac after injurie sustained in the preparation period back, in the match against Igokee had a very remarkable party of 8 points in 10 minutes in the game with great defense in the paint. Glogovac said that the Mega look for their chance to triumph in France:
– Strasbourg is one of the strongest team in our group and it will be very difficult to play on their own ground, but we will look for our chance to win. With a good team defense and hard work on the court, I believe that we can play a good match and if we have the chance to triumph, I hope we will use it,
said Glogovac to whom match in France will be only the second competitive match this season:
– I had a great feeling on his debut in the jersey Mega, primarily because we have achieved a very important win against a strong team away. We function as a team, play strong defense, which is the recipe for the matches to come,
