JUNIORS OF MEGA PROUD OF THEIR SUCCESS

Juniors of Mega Leks did a fantastic success with triumph in the Euroleague qualifying tournament in Rome. In this way, coach Nenad Canak won their participation in the festival of junior European final which will be at the time of the senior-finals also take place in Berlin, where it will participate eight teams.

“It feels great after the success achieved. At the start of the tournament it was not so perfect, because we experienced the first day defeat. We were in a difficult situation, and after first day we could jeopardize the attainment of the desired goal for which we were preparing. We in the morning had tough match against Venice and then in the evening ran over Unicaja with 39 points difference what instilled our further confidence”,

Canak said and then added:

“The final match of the challenge was very difficult. We started with a minus of 15 points in the first quarter, with I must emphasize home refereering. However, the guys were right, at any time, believed they could to win. We returned to the game and get it with character, great desire, but primarily with the quality of our players”,

Canak stated.

First team of Mega is the most pleasant surprise of the ABA league and is very close to a place in the play-off regional competition. After the success of junior in Rome, there is no doubt that Mega Leks is greatly expanding:

“We really this season made a step forward in terms of results. We’re trying to follow the trend of the first team that plays great this year, unexpectedly for many, but not for us at the club. Triumph in Rome is an indication that we are on the right track. Placement of the final tournament of the Euroleague is a great thing for the club Mega Leks”.

About expectations at the final tournament in Berlin Canak said:

“Let’s see competition and other teams” – with a smile says Canak and added: “We have achieved great success in Berlin and we will go there to play the best we can. How long will it be enough, we’ll see, I’ll be happy if guys play like this as in Rome”

One of the heroes of the great triumph of Mega certainly is Aleksandar Aranitovic, who was named the best player and top scorer of the tournament.

“We knew what to expect because it was all quality teams. We were well prepared for the tournament, entered into each match maximally competitive and we deservedly won the tournament”,

“Individual awards are less important for me. The most important thing is that we qualified for the final tournament in Berlin. Certainly honors and awards at this prestigious tournament feels good for me, but I could not win them without these teammates and this team. As for the final tournament in Berlin, is up to us to prepare ourselves as best we can, and this tournament is in May, we have a lot of time and great ambitions. We will try that in Berlin, to win first place”.

Captain of junior team of Mega also highlighted great team spirit in great triumph:

“Congratulations to the boys for winning the tournament. We really showed character. The first day we lost by Armani with six runs and were almost in a hopeless situation because we are dependent on other results. We were able to lift our spirits, that we get together, we had a bit of luck and and it happened all right. A lot of us meant that we Unicaja get so easily and convincingly before the final, although it is not so realistic results”,

“In the final team StellaAzzurra played with seven foreigners. We prepared well and we knew that the audience will be on their side. We fought, after 20:5 for them in the first quarter, we managed to make a shift and 45 seconds before the end, we had victory in our hands, and then they hit some crazy threes. However, we deserved triumph. I am very happy and proud. It’s a great feeling to be captain of this team, all the guys are subordinate to the team”n
