BARAĆ: “PLAYERS SHOWED CHARACTER, SPARK OFF THE BENCH WAS KEY”

Mega Superbet basketball players recorded another ABA League victory, defeating Borac Mozzart on the road in Čačak in Round 26 after a comeback, with a final score of 80:76 (26:26, 17:24, 17:18, 20:8). After an even first quarter, Marko Barać’s team lost the second by seven points and found themselves in a double-digit deficit during the third. They managed to cut it to single digits only in the final moments of the period. Then, midway through the final quarter, came a big comeback that led to a thrilling finish. Borac briefly regained the lead, but Mega responded with a 7:0 run to take control again and seal the win. Mega Superbet improved to 13–13 and took another step toward the playoffs, while Borac now stands at 8–18.

Mega Superbet head coach Marko Barać shared his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

I want to congratulate my players for finding a way to win. We were up against a very good opponent who played really well, especially in the first half, when their two best players gained confidence and showed their full quality. It’s obvious we didn’t do a good job in that stretch. Throughout the game, even after getting stops and having favorable transition opportunities, we failed to capitalize on the numbers advantage in fast breaks. A very high number of turnovers – it’s hard to win with those numbers. However, in the second half, not only did we manage to find a way, through some defensive adjustments, to slow down their leaders, but my players also showed strong character. The players who came off the bench brought a spark, they ignited our defense, and in the second half, it looked much better. We move on to very tough games ahead, and in addition to congratulating Borac on tonight’s performance, I also wish them the best of luck in the rest of the competition,

said Barać.

In Round 27 of the ABA League, Mega Superbet will host Spartak Subotica, with the game scheduled for Tuesday, April 15, at 19:00.
