MEGA SUPERBET WAS UNABLE TO DEFEAT CEDEVITA OLIMPIJA
The basketball players of Mega Superbet had another challenging task ahead of them in the 24th round of the ABA League. They fought until the end, but were unable to defeat Cedevita Olimpija at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall, losing with a score of 72:81 (18:23, 20:22, 16:25, 18:11). The team, coached by Marko Barać, kept up well in the first half against one of the best teams in the regional competition, but the Ljubljana team made the key difference in the third quarter. The fourth quarter went to Mega, but it wasn’t enough to fully erase the deficit, and Cedevita Olimpija celebrated the victory in New Belgrade. After 24 games played, Mega Superbet has a record of 11-13, while the Slovenian team improved their record to 15-9.
For Mega Superbet, Andrija Jelavić stood out with a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds (index 23). Filip Jović also scored 14 points, adding five rebounds, while Bogoljub Marković contributed 12 points. Mihailo Petrović was close to a double-double with eight points and 10 assists.
Cedevita Olimpija was led by Brajnton Lemar with 29 points, followed by Aleksej Nikolić with 11, and Devin Robinson and Andrija Stipanović, who each scored 10 points.
Mega started the game well, taking a 5-0 lead, but then came a 7-0 run from the opponent to turn the game around – and a big battle followed. It was back-and-forth, with the teams exchanging leads, but the finish of the first quarter went to the visitors, who took a five-point lead into the first break (23:18). Barać’s team kept close until the second half of the second quarter, when Cedevita Olimpija managed to pull away and gained a double-digit lead for the first time. However, Mega reacted well at the end of the first half, cutting the deficit to three points, but the Ljubljana team managed to resist their push and led 45:38 at the break.
Mega tried everything to close the gap after the halftime break, but the more experienced opponent held firm, and with four minutes left in the third quarter, Cedevita Olimpija had a comfortable 18-point lead. Barać’s players managed to reduce the deficit slightly, but they were still in double-digit arrears heading into the decisive quarter (54:70). The Mega Superbet players didn’t give up until the very end, but the visitors stubbornly maintained their comfortable lead, eventually securing the win in New Belgrade.
