BARAĆ: “SOME THINGS ARE TAKING THEIR TOLL, AND RIGHT NOW, PHYSICALLY, WE DON’T LOOK THE WAY MEGA SHOULD LOOK”

The basketball players of Mega Superbet had another tough challenge ahead of them in the 24th round of the ABA League. They fought until the end but were unable to defeat Cedevita Olimpija at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall, losing with a score of 72:81 (18:23, 20:22, 16:25, 18:11). Marko Barać’s team held up well in the first half against one of the best teams in the regional competition, but the Ljubljana team made the key difference in the third quarter. The fourth quarter went to Mega, but it wasn’t enough to fully erase the deficit, and Cedevita Olimpija celebrated the win in New Belgrade. After 24 games played, Mega Superbet has a record of 11-13, while the Slovenian team improved their record to 15-9.

Mega Superbet coach, Marko Barać, shared his thoughts at the post-game press conference:

– I congratulate Cedevita on a more than deserved victory. From the start, they showed why they’ve won 12 of the last 15 games in the ABA League and had an excellent season in the EuroCup, where they were close to the semifinals. They demonstrated physical dominance from the first to the last minute, which is evident in the number of rebounds, where the difference was too big. They exploited all our weaknesses, which we obviously have at the moment. Regarding the physical aspect, we were inferior on every part of the court, losing duels, and we couldn’t establish the necessary energy to be competitive. Some things are taking their toll, with many players absent from the training process. It is clear that some players are overburdened, while others are returning from breaks, and right now, physically, we don’t look like Mega should look, in order to play our recognizable game,

said Barać.

In the next, 25th round of the ABA League, Mega Superbet will host Zadar, with the game scheduled at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall on Sunday, March 30, at 12:00.
