MEGA MIS SECURES CRUCIAL WIN IN ZADAR IN THE FINAL MOMENTS
Mega MIS basketball players achieved an important victory on tough away ground, defeating Zadar in the Krešimir Ćosić Arena during Round 10 of the ABA League, 67:65 (21:19, 19:25, 11:12, 16:9). Marko Barać’s team trailed after 20 minutes of play and was down by as much as 11 points midway through the third quarter but refused to give up. They turned the game around early in the decisive quarter. In a tense finish, Mega managed to prevail, earning a crucial triumph. After 10 rounds, they now hold an even record of 5-5, while Zadar suffered their sixth defeat (4-6).
Bogoljub Marković was the top scorer for Mega MIS with 18 points (efficiency rating of 20), Kosta Kondić added 14 points (efficiency 16), while Jack Kyle also reached double figures with 11 points.
For Zadar, Tyler Wahl scored 15 points, Amar Gegić added 13, and Krševan Klarica finished with 12 points.
After an even start, Mega MIS pulled away with an 8-0 run, leading 17:11 midway through the first quarter. However, Zadar responded in kind, but Petrović and Marković ensured Mega entered the break with a slight edge (21:19). Midway through the second quarter, the hosts went on a 13-0 run, nearing a double-digit lead. Barać’s team responded impressively with a 10-2 run to tie the score (36:36). Zadar managed to fend off Mega’s push and ended the half with a four-point lead (44:40).
Mega MIS turned the game around at the start of the third quarter, but the battle in the Krešimir Ćosić Arena intensified. Zadar responded with another surge, building a double-digit lead with three minutes left in the third quarter. However, Mega fought back, cutting the deficit in half heading into the final 10 minutes (51:56). Picking up where they left off, Mega reclaimed the lead five minutes into the fourth quarter after a gritty display. It was clear the game would go down to the wire. With three minutes remaining, the score was tied, and Petrović put Mega ahead. Zadar equalized, but Marković restored Mega’s lead. With 51 seconds left on the clock, neither team managed to score until Petrović sealed the win with a free throw in the final moments.
In the next round of the ABA League, Mega MIS will host Borac Čačak at Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall on Monday, December 9, at 18:00.
