BARAĆ: “DEFENSIVELY, WE WEREN’T AT OUR USUAL LEVEL, IT’S CLEAR WE NEED MORE WORK AND EXPERIENCE”
After four consecutive victories at the start of the 2024/25 ABA League season, Mega MIS basketball players suffered their first defeat, losing to Split 90:80 (28:20, 20:20, 24:22, 18:18) at the Gripe Sports Hall. Marko Barać’s team was trailing from the first quarter, battling hard and trying in every way to break down their opponent’s resistance, but the more experienced Split side persistently held onto the lead. They fended off Mega’s surge in the fourth quarter and ultimately secured their second win of the season (2-3). Mega MIS now has a 4-1 record after their first loss.
Mega MIS coach, Marko Barać, shared his thoughts after the game:
“Congratulations to Split on a deserved victory. They started the game much better and controlled its entire flow. Defensively, we weren’t at our usual level, allowing their best players to get into rhythm early on, and it was very difficult to control all of that afterward. We came close several times, twice reducing the deficit to six points, and once to seven, but each time we conceded a three-pointer. It’s clear we need more work and experience, to be aware of these things and the significance of certain possessions. We’ll move on and look to get back into a good rhythm. So far, we’ve been playing very good basketball, and I hope that will continue. I also wish Split the best of luck moving forward,” said Barać.
In the next, sixth round of the ABA League, Mega MIS will host Igokea at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall. The game is scheduled for Sunday, October 27, at 12:00 PM.
