BARAĆ: “I CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS ON THEIR BRAVERY, THE HIGH NUMBER OF ASSISTS IS ESPECIALLY ENCOURAGING”
The basketball players of Mega MIS recorded their third victory at the start of the new season in the ABA league, as they handed the Dubai team their first loss as guests at the Koka Kola Arena, winning 80:83 (24:18, 21:18, 18:24, 17:23). Under the guidance of coach Marko Barać, they put up a good fight against their opponent in the first half but were trailing. However, they played brilliantly in the third quarter, overcoming a double-digit deficit, although they couldn’t maintain the lead until the final break. A fierce battle ensued in the decisive quarter, leading to a tense finish where Kosta Kondić played a key role. He first hit a three-pointer at the beginning of the last minute, giving Barać’s team the lead, and then, with 1.7 seconds left, drew three free throws, making all of them to secure Mega MIS’s third consecutive triumph, leaving them with a perfect 3-0 record after three rounds. Dubai suffered their first loss and now has a record of 2-1.
After the game, Mega MIS coach Marko Barać shared his impressions at the press conference:
“I would like to congratulate my players on their bravery tonight, as well as in the first two rounds. There is no need to talk about how significant this victory is for our club and how much we enjoyed today’s game. The atmosphere was beautiful; it was an outstanding basketball event, and it was an honor and a privilege to be a part of it. Winning in this manner against a great team that, despite being freshly assembled, displayed excellent play in the first two rounds… We managed to find some balance in terms of rebounding in the second half. We are a team that plays much better when we control that aspect of the game, but our defense on the three-point line made the unbelievable shooting team of our opponents struggle with low percentages. Additionally, unlike the last round, where we played much harder and where I said after the game that we wanted to play more fluidly, we had a high number of assists tonight, which is especially encouraging. Once again, I would like to congratulate everyone in the club; we have worked hard to make it all look like this, and I would like to thank our hosts for their warm hospitality and organization,” said Barać.
In the next, fourth round of the ABA league, the basketball players of Mega MIS will host Mornar, with the match scheduled for Sunday, October 13, at 12:00, in the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall.
