MEGA MIS DEFEATS FMP AFTER A STRONG COMEBACK IN THE FINAL QUARTER

The basketball players of Mega MIS recorded their second victory in the ABA League, as they defeated FMP in the second round at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall with a score of 83:80 (17:24, 21:21, 19:17, 26:18). The team coached by Marko Barać was trailing for most of the first half and could not erase the deficit in the third quarter, but they consistently stayed close to their rivals. However, they ramped up their game in the decisive period and took the lead after just a few minutes, leading to a fierce battle. The game entered a tense finish, but the young Mega MIS team held their nerves at the free-throw line, recording a new triumph and improving their record to 2-0 with their first home victory of the new season.

Kosta Kondić was the most effective player in the winning team with 20 points, while Filip Jović contributed 19 points and six rebounds. Bogoljub Marković had an excellent performance with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Jack Cahill also scored 12 points. Mihailo Petrović was also in double digits with 11 points.

FMP was led by Vojislav Stojanović with 21 points, Ognjen Kuzmić added 15 points, Matić Rebec scored 14 points, and Jovan Novak finished with 11 points.

The guests started the game slightly better, leading 11:5 in the middle of the opening quarter, and then 20:12, but Mega did not allow them to pull away, and the first break ended with a score of 24:17 in favor of the team from Železnik. However, at the beginning of the second quarter, FMP achieved a double-digit lead (30:19), but then a big series from Barać’s team followed, which, after a three-pointer from Cahill, cut the deficit to just one point. A fierce battle ensued until halftime, but FMP was better at the end of the first half and led 45:38 after 20 minutes.

In the third quarter, a similar outcome as in the second occurred—the guests took a double-digit lead again, and Mega closed the gap, only for the team from Železnik to pull away once more at the end of the quarter. Before the decisive period, the scoreboard read 57:62. That did not discourage Barać’s team, which turned the game around after a layup by Milijašević with seven and a half minutes left (66:65). FMP managed to pull away again, leading by five points, but Mega refused to give up and took the lead again after a three-pointer from Cahill. The game entered a tense finish, and Milijašević brought a three-point advantage to the home team from the free-throw line with 18 seconds left. Mega managed to defend well in the final moments, preserving their lead and securing another victory.

In the upcoming third round of the ABA League, the players of Mega MIS will visit the Dubai team. The match at the Coca-Cola Arena is scheduled for Saturday, October 5, at 17:00.
