BARAĆ: “VERY TOUGH GAME AND A VERY IMPORTANT VICTORY”

Mega MIS basketball players secured their third consecutive victory in the ABA League by defeating Cibona 80-76 in the 22nd round after a tough battle at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall (20:17, 20:21, 24:17, 16:21). Under the guidance of coach Marko Barać, after an evenly matched first half, Mega MIS reached a double-digit lead with excellent play in the third quarter. However, Cibona, with a strong surge at the beginning of the decisive period, managed to overturn the game. Nevertheless, Mega found the strength to regain the lead entering crunch time,  when the young Barać’s players held their nerve and secured their 12th victory in the ABA League this season, improving their record to 12-10, while Cibona, after the loss in New Belgrade, stands at 8-14.

Coach Marko Barać shared his impressions at the post-game press conference:

“Very tough game and a very important victory for us. Congratulations to the players for finding a way to finish this duel correctly. We managed to build a decent lead, but our defense against three-point shots was weak. Proleta hit three consecutive three-pointers, and even after that, we had many problems in that area. Cibona has been playing very smart and good basketball from the start of the season; they are a serious opponent to everyone, and it was the same tonight. There are things I am not satisfied with: the huge number of offensive rebounds by the opponent. I am very satisfied with the victory because this is the first triumph we achieved without shining. We lost many games by just one ball, indicating that this team is maturing. We already have 12 victories, as many as we recorded last season when we finished sixth. Now, we have four more rounds to surpass that result. We are in a good position, but we have to be even better if we want to surpass it,” said Barać.

In the 23rd round of the ABA League, Mega MIS will host Studentski Centar at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall on Sunday, March 17, at 12:00.
