BARAC: “IT PAID OFF FOR US AFTER THE FIRST TWO ROUNDS, WE DESERVED IT THROUGH HARD WORK AND BRAVERY”

The players of Mega MIS bravely faced the defending champions in the ABA League, Partizan Mozzart Beta, and after 40 minutes of great battle, they clinched a significant victory with a buzzer-beating shot – 88:86 (21:11, 19:18, 29:32, 19:25). Marko Barać’s chosen ones played brilliantly and were in the lead for most of the match, even leading by as much as 20 points in the third quarter. However, the Serbian representative in the EuroLeague and the current Adriatic champion managed to bring the match into an uncertain finish. Mega had the last attack, the opportunity to secure a major victory, and they succeeded. After a fierce battle by Uroš Plavšić under the opponent’s basket, the ball went through the hoop with the sound of the buzzer, leading to a grand celebration for the home team at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall. With this, Mega MIS now has a record of 2-2 after four rounds of the regional competition, while Partizan suffered its first defeat and is now at 1-3.

Coach Marko Barać shared his impressions after the significant triumph:

“First, I want to congratulate my players on a brilliantly executed job. They prepared very well, entered the match with a lot of concentration and even more energy. Defensively, they fulfilled their tasks excellently, and the result of such play was that we held such an offensive team like Partizan to only 29 points in the first half. I insisted with the players that regardless of which way the game goes, if there’s a bigger gap for either team, to maintain focus for 40 minutes, because we hoped this would be a game decided by one or two possessions, as it turned out to be. In the end, it paid off for us after some misfortunes in the first two rounds. I think we deserved it through our hard work and bravery. We continue to work further, we prepared very well for this match, which gives me optimism that we will continue with good performances. I would like to wish Partizan good luck in the upcoming games,” said Barać.

Following the big win over Partizan, Mega MIS will face Budućnost VOLI in the fifth round of the ABA League, with the match scheduled at the Morača Sports Center in Podgorica, on Saturday, October 28, at 19:00.
