BARAĆ: “THE PLAYERS HAD A LOT OF MINUTES DUE TO THE SHORTENED ROTATION, BUT THEY SHOWED THE DESIRE AND DESERVED TO WIN”
Mega MIS basketball players improved the winning streak in the Super League of Serbia, as after Vojvodina and Metalac, they also defeated Borac Mozzart in the fourth round of Group B, 92:78 (25:26, 21:18, 28:20, 18: 14). After a great fight in the first half, Marko Barać’s team managed to pull away after a brilliantly played third quarter. The team from Čačak tried to return to the decisive period, but the Mega basketball players repelled the push of their rivals and, with a series of good moves, regained a double-digit advantage, which they preserved in the last few minutes without any major problems.
Mega MIS thus remained the only team without defeat in Group B after three played rounds (3-0), while Borac suffered its first loss (2-1). Vojvodina is third with a 1-2 performance, while Metalac has yet to win (0-3).
Coach Marko Barać gave his impressions after the new triumph:
– I congratulate my players on the victory. We had a shortened rotation, and the players had a lot of minutes, but in the end, we played with good energy in the decisive moments. We opened by exchanging points against a very good attacking team, relying too much on the three-point shot. We mostly had enough aggressiveness and a little luck to collect those misses and win a second chance. That kept us going when we played a bit weaker. In the second quarter, defensively, we played as we should, but at the very end, we allowed a few easy points and went into halftime tied. Later on, Borac created a lot of problems by playing inside, using Sava Lešić as a playmaker from inside positions, but my players managed to press the defense with the right energy when it was important to run a counterattack and to gain confidence from the defense to make decisive shots. I am pleased with the good ball control, a good ratio of assists, turnovers, and steals. All this shows that there was a desire and that the victory was well-deserved,
Barać said.
Captain Luka Cerovina was the top scorer in the third victory with 28 points:
– A very important victory for us, with a good margin, is a significant advantage for the next game in Čačak. We aim to be first in the group, go to the semi-finals or the final, and try to win the title. I would like to congratulate the fighter on a fair and correct game,
Cerovina added.
On Sunday, May 21, the Mega MIS basketball players will have another meeting with the Borac, this time in Čačak. It is scheduled for 6 pm in the Hall near Morava, and a victory would open the door for Marko Barać’s team to reach the semi-finals of the Serbian Super League.
