MEGA MIS BROKE THE RESISTANCE OF METALAC IN THE SECOND QUARTER AND ACHIEVED A NEW VICTORY IN THE SUPER LEAGUE OF SERBIA
Mega MIS basketball players defeated Metalac from Valjevo in the Mega Factory hall 88:77 (19:16, 26:16, 32:20, 11:22) in the match of the third round of the Serbian Super League. Marko Barać’s team failed to break away in the opening quarter, the guests held on well until the middle of the second, but then Malcolm Cazalon and Aleksa Uskoković started the team and enabled it to meet the big break with a double-digit surplus. Then, in the third part, they continued at the same pace and helped Mega erase all doubts about the winner after 30 minutes. All that Metalac managed to do in the last quarter was to soften the blow.
After two matches played (a postponed game of the first round with the Borac Mozart team), Mega MIS has a maximum score of 2-0, while Metalac is at 0-2. So far, Vojvodina has one win and one loss each, while Borac still needs to step on the field in the Super League due to obligations in the play-off for survival in the ABA league.
Malcolm Cazalon was the top scorer against Metalac with 25 points, but Matej Rudan was the MVP with 16 points, five rebounds, four blocks, and a PIR of 23. Aleksa Uskoković was on the verge of a double-double with 13 points and nine assists, Danko Branković also had 13 points, while Filip Jović also scored in double figures with 11 points and seven boards.
In the team from Valjevo, Uroš Luković scored 19 points, Ibrahim Durmo added one less, Marko Šinik scored 14 points, and Mladen Grušanović scored 11 points.
There was a great fight in the first quarter, the teams took turns in the lead, but with four points in the end, Mega managed to wait for the break with a surplus (19:16). Metalac continued to offer good resistance until the middle of the second period when Cazalon and Uskoković took matters into their own hands and gave their team a double-digit advantage with a 13:2 run. The rival reacted in the last few minutes, but Cazalon saved Mega with a three-pointer before the big break (45:35).
Where Barac’s team left off in the second quarter, they continued in the third quarter. Cazalon scored, Uskoković shined, and the advantage of Mega MIS grew from minute to minute, up to plus 24, to enter the decisive quarter with 77:55 in favor of the hosts. Due to the significant advantage, the Mega basketball players relaxed at the end of the match, which the guest from Valjevo used to cut the deficit in half but did not seriously threaten Barać’s team’s victory.
Mega MIS continues the fight in the Super League next week, and the fourth round meeting with the Borac Mozart team is scheduled for Wednesday, May 17, from 6:00 pm in the Mega Factory hall.
