BARAĆ: “VERY IMPORTANT VICTORY; WE PRODUCED SOME EASY POINTS FROM DEFENSE IN THE CRUCIAL MOMENTS”
Mega MIS basketball players continued with great results in the ABA League, as they defeated Mornar-Barsko zlato in the 20th round of the ABA League in the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall 89:78 (20:24, 21:15, 19:17, 29:22). The guests opened the match better, but Marko Barać’s players were patient and slowly gained momentum. On the wings of captain Luka Cerovina, they fought for a tie in the first half, and then a big fight followed. It smelled like a dramatic ending, and then Mega made a 12:1 run, gained a double-digit lead with two and a half minutes to go, and there was no way back for the guests. The Mega MIS basketball players continued with excellent results and recorded another important victory, which further strengthened their position in the fight for the playoffs and improved their performance to 9-11. The Rams suffered their 13th loss (6-13).
Coach Marko Barać expressed his impressions after the very important triumph in the race for the playoffs:
– I congratulate my players on a very important victory. Through the training process and in preparation for this game, it was felt that this break took its toll. You could see at the opening of the match that we were rusty, which was expected because we trained for a long time with only four players, the rest had national team duties, and some were recovering from injuries. After a weak start to the game, we managed to catch the rhythm, we had production in the low post offensively, and in the second half, we showed a better game. We performed our tasks decently, and from that defense, in key moments, we scored easy points and turned the match in our favor. I will repeat, once again, a very important victory for us, congratulations to my boys, and I would like to wish Mornar the best of luck in the future,
said Barac.
In the next round, Mega MIS welcomes MZT in the Sports Hall of Ranko Žeravica, and the meeting is scheduled for Sunday, March 12, from 12:00.
