BARAĆ: “THE SECOND QUARTER SHOWED THAT WE CAN DEAL WITH EVERYONE, FOR OBJECTIVE BUT ALSO INADMISSIBLE REASONS, WE FELL IN THE END”
Mega MIS lost to Crvena Zvezda in the 11th round of the ABA League 92:58 (25:16, 19:17, 18:18, 30:7). Marko Barać’s team coped well with the defending champions in the more significant part of the meeting. Still, in the last period, they succumbed to a more experienced rival and suffered a defeat. After 11 matches, Mega MIS has a 3-8 score, while Zvezda recorded its ninth triumph (9-1).
Coach Marko Barać gave his impressions.
– I congratulate Zvezda on the well-deserved victory. They are a serious Euroleague team that we were not ready for tonight. We opened too soft. Allowed players we know are good shooters open threes. We were not close enough, solid, and in a tight fit. The second quarter showed that we could play appropriately in terms of defense and aggressiveness and that we could play on par with everyone in this league. Still, for somewhat objective but also unacceptable reasons, we allowed ourselves to fall in the fourth quarter. We had personnel problems and lost energy when we did not find good enough solutions for their switch defense. Allowing ourselves not to create a single open shot, the defenders had forced solutions, unlike Zvezda’s, who masterfully punished every switch in defense. We didn’t last energetically, but the way we stopped playing and lost by 20 points in the last quarter is unacceptable,
said Barac.
In the next round, the Mega basketball team is expected to host Budućnosti in Podgorica, and the match is scheduled for Sunday from 4:30 p.m.
