BARAĆ: “WE DID NOT OPEN THE MATCH AS WE AGREED, THE NUMBER OF OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS SHOWS WHO IMPOSED THE DESIRE AND AGGRESSIVENESS UNDER THE RIM”
Mega MIS players lost in Split 79:75 (25:19, 26:20, 15:14, 13:22) in the 10th round of the ABA League after a great fight and a dramatic finish. Marko Barać’s team erased a double-digit deficit in the last quarter, came close to a one-point deficit, but failed to turn it around, and suffered their seventh defeat (3-7), while Split achieved their third victory and now has the same result.
Coach Marko Barać gave his impressions after the match and drew special attention to the fact that Split had nine more offensive rebounds.
– I would like to congratulate the host on the victory. We didn’t open the game the way we agreed, with complete deconcentration from the very beginning. We allowed the Split players in the interior positions to impose their rhythm and contact play in defense and offense. They pushed us out of the corners we wanted by pushing aggressively. The number of offensive rebounds shows enough who imposed their desire and aggressiveness in the racket. That wasn’t us tonight. We will analyze why this is so, work to correct it so that we can be better in the next matches,
said Barac.
Coach Mega points out that the team has room for improvement in defense as well.
– We conceded 51 points, without going out of the bonus in the second quarter. We committed seven fouls and that speaks volumes for the way we played defense. Split played with a lot of enthusiasm and desire, which can be seen through the offensive rebounds. There is something called toughness, the ground game, and preparation for the jump, which our big guys were not ready for. We’ll have to do some analysis to see why we didn’t have the right answer,
concluded Marko Barać.
In the next round, Mega MIS basketball players will welcome the defending champions Crvena Zvezda. The meeting is scheduled for Monday from 18:00 at the Ranko Žeravica Sports Hall.
