MEGA MIS FOUGHT HARD BUT COULDN’T WIN AGAINST IGOKEA
Mega MIS lost to Igokea 87:76 (18:19, 19:25, 23:14, 16:29) in the first match at home in the new ABA League season. Marko Barać’s team fought bravely against the team from Laktaši, took the lead in the dying minutes of the third quarter, but Dragan Bajić’s team managed to break away in the last period and won in the end. After first two rounds, Mega has 0-2.
With 19 points Malcolm Cazalon was at the top of the scoreboard in Mega, but Danko Branković was the most efficient. In addition to 15 points, the center from Croatia recorded seven assists, six rebounds, and six blocks, breaking the club record. They were followed by Nikola Đurišić with 13 points and captain Luka Cerovina with 12 points. In the winning team, Kendrick Ray stood out with 20 points, Nikola Tanasković scored 18, while Mario Nakić added 16 points.
After Mega’s early lead, teams gave a great fight in a fairly even game. Branković started well, especially under Mega’s basket with several blocks, but the visiting team went into the first break with minimal advantage. In the middle of the second period, Igokea managed to break away, but in the end, after an important three-pointer by captain Cerovina, the home team managed to cut the deficit. After 20 minutes of play, the team from Laktaši had an advantage of seven points.
As in the first half, the second half saw a physical game, with a lot of contact. Marko Barać’s players tightened their defense, raised the tempo, and with Uskoković’s points in the last seconds, they took the lead. The guests opened the last quarter well, with a series of points they reached a comfortable lead, which they managed to preserve until the end of the match.
