JOVANOVIC: “WE WERE ENERGETICALLY VERY GOOD IN SECOND HALF BUT THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH IN THIS MOMENT”

Mega Soccerbet lost in the 20th round of the ABA league against Krka in Novo Mesto with 76:71 (23:21, 18:11, 16:20, 19:19). Coach Vladimir Jovanović’s team returned from a 13-point deficit in the middle of the last quarter with 17 tied points by Petrusev, but with the result of 72:71 in the last minute after the miss of Cazalon and then Petrusev from free throw’s line, they missed the opportunity to reach an extremely important victory. In the remaining time, Cazalon was called an unsportsmanlike foul, after which the match was resolved.

At the press conference after the match, Mega’s coach Vladimir Jovanovic pointed out that he could not say that his players did not do their best, although there was a weaker approach at the beginning of the match:

– I would say that our form, which showed itself against Borac after the national team break, continued, although I hoped in the meantime that it would be better. I think we entered the game with a lack of energy, the Krka team was very motivated and quickly took control of the game and we lagged behind them practically the whole match. Despite our good play in defense at some points, we failed to materialize it in attack. I can’t say that my players didn’t do their best, the approach at the beginning was definitely weaker than the game required, but in the second half we were very good energetically, however, that was not enough at this moment. We failed to correct the mistakes we mostly made in the first half. I would like to congratulate the Krka team on the deserved victory and wish them luck in the continuation of the championship, and we are waiting for the next games where we will try to correct the mistakes,
