GREAT GAME OF MEGA IN PIREUS, OLYMPIACOS IN THE FINISH TO THE WIN
Mega Soccerbet performed great in a friendly match in Piraeus, where they had the advantage for most of the match, but Olympiacos managed to turn the score around in the last quarter and won 78:75 (15:16, 22:29, 21:18, 20:12). The humanitarian match against the Greek Euroleague team was played in the “Peace and Friendship” hall as part of the “Monday Night Against Covid-19” event organized by the home team to raise funds to support the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The best in the ranks of Mega were Marko Simonovic with 26 points and 10 rebounds, as well as Filip Petrusev with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Malcolm Cazalon had 18 points. Sasha Vezenkov stood out in the Olympiacos with 20 points.
Before the start of the match, the representatives of both clubs exchanged appropriate gifts.
Mega’s coach Vladimir Jovanovic started the match with five Smith, Cazalon, Momirov, Simonovic and Petrusev. Great opening match for Mega, who leads with 2:11 after five minutes of play, with a particularly good game in defense. After a weak start, Olympiacos managed to find a rhythm in the attack, so they managed to get closer to just one point behind, 11:12. Tepic interrupted the series of the home team with a shot from the corner where he stepped on the line for three points, and then Petrusev then defended the advantage of Mega after the first quarter, 15:16.
Simultaneous of Simonovic in the second quarter, where he tied 11 points (two three-pointers) in just over three minutes, and then Smith hit the lay-up for two plus one, for Mega’s lead 22:30. Mega continued with an excellent defense and then on the other side Cazalon hit a three for Mega’s first double-digit lead, 22:33. Olympiacos manages to reduce the difference, but Mega keeps the lead with a diverse game in the attack. Tepic finds Petrusev excellently for Alley-oop dunk for 33:42, and after two baskets by Olympiacos, Jovicic set the score at halftime, 37:45, with a three-pointer in the last seconds.
Cazalon with two baskets and Simonovic with a new three-pointer kept the advantage of Mega at the beginning of the third quarter, and then Petrusev returned the double-digit lead to Mega, 45:55. Great defense of Cazalon who steals the second ball in a short period, but it seems that Mega misses the opportunity to come to a more convincing advantage. With several missed free throws by Mega and missed opportunities in the attack, Olympiacos managed to get to only four points behind before the last minute, and the result before the last quarter is 58:63.
With the points of Vezenkov, Olympiakos reached the lead of 65:63 for the first time at the beginning of the last quarter, but Petrusev cut the series of the home team with two plus one. Mega has a hard time finding its way to the basket of Olympiacos, where Simonovic scored a three-pointer at the end of the attack for 69:69, which is the result with which teams entered the last five minutes of the game. It was difficult for Mega to reach the basket, so Olympiacos materialized missed free throws and turnovers of Mega for 75:71 in less than two minutes until the end, and after the new lost ball of Mega, Nikolaidis resolved the question of the winner with a triple. By the end, Mega managed to get closer for the final 78:75 for the Greek team.
