GREAT RESISTANCE OF MEGA TO THE WINNERS OF FIBA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
Mega Bemax showed great resistance to the winners of the FIBA Champions League, but A.E.K Athens eventually won with 97:104 (29:27, 16:28, 28:28, 24:21) within the control match played at Mega Hall Factory in Belgrade. Players of Dejan Milojevic managed to lower the difference to 4 points in the finish, but the experienced AEK managed to defend the victory and to celebrate at the end.
The best in the ranks of Mega Bemax were Goga Bitadze with 27 points and 8 rebounds (index 35) and Kostja Mushidi with 13 points. Jonas Maciulis with 23 points (3 pts 6-7) and Xavier Mayes with 19 points stood out in the AEK team.
The next control match Mega Bemax pla against the Beijing team on Wednesday, September 12, at 4 pm in the Vizura Sport hall in Zemun.
In the first quarter, a lot of points were seen on both sides with the good game of Bitadze, Fundic and Mokoka, and after the first 10 minutes, Janjic scored three for 29:27. In the second quarter, Mega’s players allowed too much space in the defense that guests use and with threes arrived at plus 11. Mega has played better in defense, reduced the deficit, but AEK returns a double-digit lead in the last minute for 45:55 at half-time.
AEK in the middle of the third quarter comes to a plus 14, but Mushidi and Bitadze raise the team and Mega slowly drops minus to 4 points, 69:73. Again in the finish, there was again a lack of concentration in defense, so result is 73:83 before the last 10 minutes.
Mega’s players did not give up in the last quarter, Bitadze and Mushidi started the series, and on several occasions they were down to 4 points, but Mega did not use several opportunities to turn the match in their favor, so AEK came to a deserved victory, 97:104.
