MILOJEVIC: “TENERIFE IS FAVORITE, WE WILL WITH WIN TO CONTINUE OUR EUROPEAN STORY”
Players of Mega Leks will on Wednesday 25th of January from 20:30 hours end their contest in the Basketball Champions League with a game Sremska Mitrovica, where they will welcome Tenerife. Tickets for the match are already on sale at a price of 300 dinars for stands and can be purchased in the period 8-22 hours in a cafe Pinki within the hall, as well as at the box office on the day of the match.
Mega’s defeat in Belgium in the previous round, lost all chances to qualify to the next phase of the Champions League, while they are still “in the game” for a place in the FIBA Eurocup, which will finish in the worst fifth-placed team, all sixth ranked and two best seventh-ranked teams from five groups of Champions league. In addition to the victory against the Spanish team, Mega will depend on the results from other groups. Dejan Milojevic in this match will not be able to count on the last backup Predrag Samardziski as well as the previously injured Marko Tejic, Radovan Djokovic and Ognjen Carapic.
Coach of Mega Leks says that Tenerife is the favorite in this match:
– On Wednesday we play our last match in the Champions League as we host leader of our group and one of the favorites to win the competition. In addition to the Champions League, Tenerife plays great in ACB league where they are currently in second place, which is another proof of their quality. Compared to the match in Spain where we were “in play” until the last 5 minutes of the match, I now believe that we are in better shape, as shown by our games lately. Guests are certainly the favorites in this match. We even do not have a chance of going through, and for the FIBA Eurocup depends on other results, we will certainly do our best to provide a quality game and try to get the victory with which we would have our chances to continue our European story,
said Milojevic.
In between the breaks in the match, to the auditorium from the special sporting rifles will be shot shirts of company Roda. Three lucky spectators who caught colorful shirts in half will compete in shooting from a half court for a valuable prize – a plasma TV, a gift of company Roda. In the match against Tenerife will be continued with the project “Mega Experience” within which the guests of the club are young and talented from Sremska Mitrovica.
Mega Leks and Tenerife met in the 7th round of the Champions League when the Spanish team at home celebrated with 73:59. On the table of Group D Tenerife is the first with a score of 10-3 while Mega seventh with 4 wins and 9 losses.
Nikola Rebic in the previous round of the Champions League had debut in the Mega’s jersey and before the match against Tenerife said that the triumph would mean a lot for a confidence of the team:
– We welcome Tenerife who are currently at the top of the ACB league. Although we lost the chance to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League, in this match we enter fully motivated and we will do our best to finish competition with this win, with a hope that it will be enough to continue FIBA Eurocup. Triumph against such quality opponent would definitely meant a lot for the confidence of the team prior to the continuation of the competition in the ABA league,
Rebic said.
